MILITARY ACADEMY CHOIR CELEBRATES HERITAGE MONTH IN GRAND STYLE!!!
The Military Academy Choir celebrated Heritage Month in grand and unique style on 26 September 2015 at the Military Academy, Saldanha Bay. The choir held its first ever concert, since it was established on 21 February 2014. Since its establishment, the choir spent most of its available time visiting and building relationships with local and community choirs and other choirs in the Western Cape area.
It was decided, after spending time building relationships with other choirs last year, to invite them to our home to celebrate Heritage Month in style through music, poetry and traditional dances, because music forms part of our rich Heritage as South Africans. The concert was held for the purpose of entertaining and reminding our fellow students as well as the local community of where we come from, how we used to live and who we are today. Thus the theme of the day was "going back to my roots".
The audience as well as the participating choirs were required to wear their different traditional attires to be in line with the theme of the day and as a symbol of our rainbow nation. The day was made successful and blessed by the presence of the Military Academy Choir, University of Stellenbosch Tygerberg Campus, Diazville High School as well as the soloists and poets from within these choirs and the individual students of Military Academy. The event started at 12:00 on a high note and concluded on a high note with the singing of the National Anthem by all the choirs simultaneously on stage. This was the symbol of togetherness as one and unity in diversity.
